Words mean things, so we should understand that meaning when they are used.

Christian: a person who believes in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ alone as their salvation. If a person believes that any action of mankind contributes to that salvation, this would be an example of a NON-Christian. A Christian has their eyes opened (by God) to the fact that good deeds only produce rewards in heaven, they do absolutely nothing to get you in the door.

In other words, if you think you are a good person, or going to heaven for being 'good', you could not be any further from heaven or being a Christian.
